Where to Get Instruments, Music, and Accessories

Shar Music – I’ve been buying from them since I was 5 years old – ok, my mom bought from them for a while…
Southwest Strings – A good place to get strings and accessories at a reasonable price.
Johnson Strings – Another great vendor. They have good instruments as well.
Woodwind and Brasswind – Yet another good place to buy stuff. They specialize more in band instruments, but they have some good string sales from time to time.
JW Pepper – The place for sheet music of all types. They specialize in ensembles (band, orchestra, choral) and educational music.

Links and Violin Resources for Musicians and Teachers

IMSLP – Free sheet music for download and printing. All music is in public domain, which means it was written or published before 1923.
Violinist.com – Great resource for violinists, string players, and teachers. Articles, forums, and lots of links to important pages.
Soundcloud – A terrific place to host your media files (songs) or your podcast. Integrates well with social media.
Gigmasters – One of many great sites to help you get gigs. Costs a few dollars, but usually pays for itself quickly.
Thumbtack – Not specifically a music site, but a good place to get gigs and students. Free to join, but you have to buy credits to do quotes.
More added everyday!
